Shahrukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit flag off 42nd IIFI in Goa

Some Bollywood celebs are in the city of sun and sand to indulge in the best of cinema and also have some fun
Expressing his uneasiness about being in Goa sans beachwear, Shahrukh Khan posted a message on Twitter, “At the Goa film festival…wearing a suit in goa…kinda takes away the spirit of the place…feel like a sore thumb.” SRK isn’t alone there however. He has his Devdas co-stars, Madhuri Dixit-Nene and Jackie Shroff to keep him company. The chief guest of the opening ceremony of the film fest is Shahrukh while Tamil star Suriya and Hollywood celebs will grace the closing ceremony. Speaking to reporters, Shah Rukh said, “The technological aspect is important. If our films have to compete with the films made abroad, we have to be technologically sound.” He also said Goa was an ideal place to host the IFFI. “This is the ideal location for the film festival. We all want it to become the best in the world,” he said.
Dhak-dhak girl Madhuri is also having a whale of a time in Goa. She tweeted, “Treating myself and family to Goan curry. Delicious!! Goa rocks!” Actor Jackie Shroff went around saying that people should not look at Goa only as a holiday destination, but also participate in the International Film Festival of India. It seems that Shroff had expected people from the industry to turn up in huge numbers and was disappointed at the crowd that turned up while he was inaugurating the ‘Raj Kapoor’ lounge for directors at the IFFI venue. He said, “I am going to request people from the film industries in India, like Marathi, Tamil, Bengali also to come here for the festival. People keep talking about Cannes, let’s make Goa better than all that,” he said. At the festival, the Indian Panorama will open with the screening of Malayalam film Urumi and will host Indian movies like Bengali film Ranjana Ami Ar Asbo Na and Hindi film Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara among others.

Madhuri Dixit inaugurates Indian Panorama at IFFI
After Shah Rukh Khan inaugurated the 42nd Indian International Film Festival, actress Madhuri Dixit carried forward the Bollywood presence here by opening the Indian Panorama section and the short films center this morning.
Dressed in a lime green knee-length dress and heels, Madhuri wore
her trademark smile throughout as the media and delegates jostled to grab and eyeful of the Dhak Dhak girl.
"I am very honoured to be here. I thank the Indian and Goa govt for inviting me. Goa is a wonderful place and it is a great idea to hold IFFI here. People come here to exchange ideas and put the same life into different perspectives. It's filmmakers like you who broaden our horizon as actors, make us learn and help us grow. It helps me give something new when I perform the next time," she said.
The 43-year-old actor, who recently relocated to India with her family after a 10-year-long stay in the US, added, "Goa is such a sunny place. I have always cherished my visit here. This is my third visit to the place with my family and I can say 'Dekha hai teesri baar, Goa ke aankhon mein pyar' -although it sounds very filmy!"
The actor opened the Indian Panorama section here, which kicked off with the screening of non-feature Hindi film 'Adwait Sangeet' by Makarand Brahme and Santhosh Sivan's Malayalam feature film Urumi. Madhuri also felicitated the jury members who had selected the films in the Panorama section from among entries from all over the country. Actor Jackie Shroff was also present, alongwith IFFI director Shankar Mohan.

Actor Madhuri Dixit opened the Indian Panorama on the second day of the 42nd International Film Festival of India (IFFI). She was joined by actor Jackie Shroff and government officials, as she interacted with the audience and shared her views and experiences on Indian cinema. Meanwhile the directors of Urumi

Madhuri who was the guest of honour said at the opening,“IFFI is a great place to bring in cinematic minds and offer them a platform to interact and bring out the best in cinema. I have myself learnt a lot from these experiences which I have tried to present in my individual works. Goa in itself is a lovely place to be in and hosting IFFI in here adds to the charm of the place. Offering a relaxed atmosphere for film practitioners to interact amongst themselves, IFFI and Goa has been the best example of creative projection which is for sure to place Indian cinema on the larger global scene,” she said.

Re: Shahrukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit flag off 42nd IIFI in Goa
Dhak dhak girl makes Iffi delegates skip a heart beat
PANAJI: Delegates tripped over one another, shutter bugs would have run out of film if not for digital cameras and festival staffers stopped what they were doing when the Dhak Dhak girl of Indian films Madhuri Dixit visited the venue of the International Film Festival of India (Iffi) on its first day after the inaugural on Thursday.
"Dekha hai threestri bar Goa ki aankhon me pyaar. (Have found love in Goa for the third time)," Dixit told a packed theatre in a variation of a chartbuster number from one of her hit films from the '90s, after declaring the Indian Panorama section open. She said that Goa is the perfect venue for the festival and a place she loves coming back to. Responding to a query from a reporter (the only one she answered through the event) in the background of the programme, Dixit said that she is happy to settle down in India for good leaving her home for a few years, USA, behind as "there are some things here that you cannot get there".
It was a long wait for fans as Dixit arrived over an hour behind schedule to inaugurate the Short Film Centre at the festival. But despite the long wait the excitement over the '90s' superstar's arrival hadn't died down, with Dixit nearly causing a stampede at the venue.
The actress, in a shimmering short yellow dress, did not fail to disappoint as she flashed her famous 100 watt smile throughout, even as it was hard to maintain composure with mediapersons wrestling to run ahead of one another to get Dixit to either pose for pictures or answer a few questions. Dixit's co-star and a one-time superstar himself Jackie Shroff nearly went unnoticed in the frenzy. Some reporters even tugged at Shroff's shirt to get him to convince Dixit to grant an interview.
When Dixit was directed towards the Inox theatre to inaugurate the Indian Panorama section, it took the festival organizers an army of staffers to get the paparazzi to settle down. When they finally did, they covered most of the space meant for the inaugural of the Indian Panorama section and the subsequent felicitation of jury members for the section at the hands of Dixit.
At one point, the actress' former co-star Shroff too had to stand on his toes behind the crowd her to click a picture of her on his phone. Fans shoved autograph books and reporters pushed with their queries till Dixit shut the door of her car and waited for the driver to whisk her out of the gates. Almost instantly, delegates dispersed, mediapersons disappeared and festival staffers resumed duties.
